SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP

Expert Talk on Advances in Aerospace Product Design

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NHCE successfully conducted an enlightening expert talk titled “Advances in Aerospace Product Design” on 24th April 2026 at the Falconry Seminar Hall.

Organised specifically for fourth- and sixth-semester students, the session aimed to enhance their knowledge of modern aerospace technologies, aircraft design methodologies, and emerging industry trends. The distinguished guest speaker for the event was Dr. Madeva Nagaral, who currently serves as a Manager at the Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bengaluru.

Dr. Nagaral leveraged his extensive experience in aircraft research and engineering to explain the vital role of advanced materials, lightweight structures, and aerodynamic optimisation in improving aircraft performance. Throughout the presentation, he highlighted the latest innovations revolutionising the sector, including Composite Materials, Additive Manufacturing, Digital Simulation, and Advanced Computer-Aided Engineering Tools. The talk also emphasised the strict quality standards, rigorous safety regulations, and complex product certification processes that govern the global aerospace sector.

Attendees gained exclusive, real-world insights into the design and development activities carried out at ARDC, HAL, alongside the Challenges of Structural Reliability, Fatigue Analysis, and Weight Reduction. Furthermore, Dr. Nagaral pointed out the rapidly growing career opportunities for mechanical engineers in the aerospace domain, encouraging students to master technical skills in CAD/CAM, Finite Element Analysis, and Product Lifecycle Management.

The session was highly interactive, prompting enthusiastic student participation as they raised thoughtful queries regarding aircraft design, manufacturing technologies, and future career pathways. Although the prompt accidentally noted a strengthening of electric vehicle concepts, the core discussion strictly focused on bridging the academic-industrial gap within the aerospace engineering domain.

Ultimately, the expert talk proved to be incredibly informative and inspiring, successfully providing the engineering undergraduates with vital practical exposure to current industrial practices.
