PROGRAMS

BE – MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Skills Involved:

Mechanical Engineering students will be involved with devising, designing, fabricating and improving equipment, tools, appliances, machines, and factories. All things that make our lives – in business and as consumers – easier, safer and more sustainable. Students will use the knowledge of mathematics and physics to look at the world from an analytical perspective. Students will learn to critically assess obvious solutions and devise better alternatives, making an indispensable link between technological development and society.

Career Scope:

After completion of Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree program, students will have a whole choice of options: to find work, continue to study or embark on an academic career. Mechanical engineers from NHCE are in great demand as it is one of the top Mechanical Engineering Colleges. Students will possess sound technical knowledge and know exactly how to apply it. Moreover, the demand for sustainable, smart, efficient devices, instruments and production processes is only increasing. So there are also plenty of opportunities in the management and advisory side of the profession. Mechanical engineers are usually employed in highly varied positions that require a flexible attitude. These include positions such as designer, business specialist, entrepreneur, technical consultant, product or project manager or higher management. And not to forget that Students have been trained to solve complex problems independently, always in close collaboration with others. In addition, students will have a strong analytical capacity and can also articulate their conclusions convincingly.

M.TECH IN MACHINE DESIGN

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers M.Tech in Machine Design, autonomous and affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University.
Principles and Techniques for designing machines, mechanisms, power generation units, automobiles, is a specialized activity of machine designer from an engineer’s perspective. A design engineer may have been trained as an engineer (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.), a physicist, a chemist, a biologist, a material scientist, a computer scientist or even a machinist. A really good engineer is knowledgeable in all those fields in addition to knowing much about dimensional metrology. A designer crosses many disciplines and a machine designer often requires multi-disciplinary teams in industries. Industry leaders have learned that to maintain a competitive advantage in the global market place, one must continually improve their activities. But efforts to implement change must be weighed against the constant pressure of lower margins, higher demand and what seems to be a continually shrinking pool of resources. Designers or machine design engineers are educated and guided in this perspective to develop new products and processes with maximum optimization.

Career Scope:

Engineers who are specialized in machine design are very much needed in mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer based industries for developing new products. Design engineers are considered the most knowledgeable from among their counterparts in diverse engineering related industries. With a specialization in design engineering and experience of 10 to 12 years in the mechanical engineering industries, a person can become an entrepreneur by initiating his/her own industry for new product development.

Objectives & Activities:

  • To train the professionals / students to work in the design field of CNC machine building where in professionals will get detailed insight into general purpose and special purpose CNC machine tools.
  • To train the professionals / students in the field of fundamentals of design engineering applied to automotive, aeronautical and machine tool engineering.
  • To train the professionals / students in designing the high end engineering applications like space craft, nuclear tanks etc.
