Industrial visit to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL)
On 23rd September 2025, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an industrial visit to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), located at Arabic College Main Road, Venkateshapura, Bengaluru. The visit, attended by 5th semester students and accompanied by Dr. Nagabhushana N and Dr. Hemanth Raju T, was held from 09:30 AM to 04:30 PM. The primary objective was to provide students with a practical exposure to metro infrastructure, project execution, rolling stock maintenance, and advanced control systems.
Students explored key areas such as civil engineering works, station design, tunneling methods, signalling and communication systems, traction and power supply, safety protocols, and sustainable practices. They gained insights into BMRCL’s operations, including its role as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka, and its contribution to Bengaluru’s urban mobility through the Namma Metro network.
The visit helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, deepening their understanding of engineering systems and project management. Interaction with BMRCL professionals offered valuable career guidance, while sessions on safety and sustainability highlighted the importance of secure and eco-friendly transport solutions. Overall, the visit was enriching and motivational, enhancing students’ technical competence and awareness of modern urban transit systems.
