Windmill Power Generating Unit
It is proud moment in the history of New Horizon Educational Institute, that the Department of Mechanical Engineering, New Horizon College of Engineering, has successfully installed the ‘Windmill Power Generating Unit’. The unit is mounted at the ‘Sardar Vallabhai Patel Block’ of New Horizon College of Engineering, Marathalli, for basic lighting purposes.
The initiative is part of the ‘Go Green’ program of the Institute which is in line with the Government of India regulations. It is in continuation of the usage of the renewable sources of energies for electricity generation. At present, the wind power generating unit is coupled with the previously installed solar panels in the ‘Sardar Vallabhai Patel Block’. Currently, a total of 30kW of power is being generated through both solar and wind sources. The energy generated can be used in the operation and functioning of basic amenities such as lights and fans, across all the departments.
The researchers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are extremely thankful and appreciative towards the management and authorities of New Horizon College of Engineering for all the support it has extended in the successful implementation and completion of the project.
