SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Department of Master of Computer Applications, organised a Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on “Emerging Digital Technologies in Manufacturing” from 3rd to 7th August 2026. The programme aimed to enhance faculty competencies in emerging technologies transforming the manufacturing sector.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Sreedharan, Director Trainer, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), as the Chief Guest. Dr. Manjunatha, Principal, and Dr. R. J. Anandhi, Vice Principal (Academics), addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of continuous learning and industry-relevant skill development. The dignitaries appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Mechanical Engineering and MCA departments in organising the FDP.

In his keynote address, Mr. Sreedharan shared valuable insights into the rapid digital transformation occurring in modern manufacturing industries. He highlighted the growing significance of Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, Automation, and Smart Manufacturing Systems. The programme featured expert lectures and interactive sessions on IIoT, Data Analytics, Additive Manufacturing, Smart Manufacturing, and Digital Twins.

Participants gained exposure to the practical implementation of advanced digital technologies in industrial environments. The sessions also emphasised innovation, entrepreneurship, and strengthening industry–academia collaboration. Faculty members were encouraged to integrate contemporary manufacturing technologies into teaching, research, and student projects.

The FDP concluded successfully that enriching participants with the knowledge and skills needed to address the challenges and opportunities of the evolving manufacturing landscape.
