CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Drone Show [Drone Laboratory Inauguration]

The Drone Show, organised as part of the Drone Technology Laboratory inauguration and Silver Jubilee celebrations at New Horizon College of Engineering on 28th September 2026, provided students with valuable exposure to modern UAV technologies and applications.

The event featured a series of live demonstrations by student-built and industry-developed drones, showcasing capabilities such as aerial payload delivery, surveying and mapping, video recording, FPV operations, and advanced flight manoeuvres. Students demonstrated their technical expertise through the operation of various drone platforms, including multipurpose, micro, nano, and F450-based drones.

A key highlight was the participation of rookie student pilots, who successfully flew drones designed and developed within the department. The indigenous DoPo drone from industry partner NeoSky India Pvt. Ltd. demonstrated the practical applications of drones in surveying and mapping. Student drones performed coordinated infinity manoeuvres, displaying precision flight control and piloting skills.

Other demonstrations included aerial videography, payload dropping, 3D flips, and immersive FPV flight experiences. The event emphasised hands-on learning in drone design, fabrication, integration, and operation. It also strengthened industry-academia collaboration while creating awareness about the newly established Drone Technology Laboratory.

The grand finale featured the simultaneous flight of multiple drones, creating an impressive aerial display. This collective demonstration reflected the department’s growing capabilities in UAV technology and student innovation.

Overall, the Drone Show successfully showcased emerging drone technologies and inspired students to explore careers and projects in the rapidly evolving field of unmanned aerial systems. The initiative highlighted the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s commitment to fostering innovation, experiential learning, and excellence in drone technology through this unique initiative.
