Industrial Visit-Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an industrial visit to the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED) on April 25, 2025, for 4th and 6th semester students. The objective was to explore sustainable energy solutions, rural development technologies, and energy conservation practices, promoting self-reliance and environmental sustainability in rural communities.
MGIRED, established in 2000 in Bengaluru, serves as a center for capacity building in rural energy and sustainable development for Karnataka and neighboring states. Key focus areas included renewable energy technologies, energy management, skill development, environmental protection, and government policies. Students gained practical insights into renewable energy innovations, conservation techniques, and rural development practices. They appreciated hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions on sustainable practices, which deepened their understanding and sparked interest in rural innovation. The visit emphasized the role of green technologies in empowering communities and fostering eco-friendly living, making it an enriching and educational experience.
