SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP
Workshop on Mechanical Engineering with Generative AI: Prompt, Solve, Design and Build
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, New Horizon College of Engineering, organized a hands-on workshop on “Mechanical Engineering with Generative AI: Prompt, Solve, Design and Build” for 3rd semester students. The session was conducted by Mr. Karthik A V, SME – Data Scientist, UNEXT. The workshop introduced students to the applications of Generative AI in mechanical engineering and its relevance to modern industry practices. Participants learned prompt engineering techniques and explored AI-assisted approaches to problem-solving and design ideation.
Hands-on activities enabled students to develop and refine engineering prompts for technical tasks. The session demonstrated how AI can support concept development, design improvement, and engineering workflows. Students gained exposure to AI-enabled tools used in engineering projects and technical communication.
The importance of validating AI-generated outputs using engineering principles and professional judgment was strongly emphasized. The interactive laboratory environment encouraged active participation and practical learning. Overall, the workshop enhanced students’ digital skills and provided a strong foundation for the responsible use of AI in mechanical engineering applications.
