CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Industrial Visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

Mechanical Engineering students visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru on April 15, 2026. The visit was organised for fourth-semester students and guided by Prof. Gowtham Raj and Dr Nagabhushana N. The objective was to provide practical exposure to astronomy, instrumentation, and scientific applications.

Students attended a Sky Theatre Show that explained celestial phenomena using advanced projection systems. They explored an exhibition featuring models of satellites, rockets, and astronomical instruments. A live telescope demonstration helped them understand the working of optical instruments in astronomy.

Experts conducted a Q&A session addressing astrophysics, cosmology, and engineering applications in space science. Students learned about celestial mechanics, planetary motion, and the interdisciplinary role of space technology.

The visit emphasised the importance of precision instruments in astronomical studies. It also inspired curiosity and interest in research related to astronomy and engineering. Feedback from students highlighted the engaging and informative nature of the visit. The experience successfully connected classroom concepts with practical demonstrations.

Overall, the visit enriched students’ scientific temperament and broadened their horizons in space science.
