Five-Day Professional Development Programmein association with MSME Technology Centre

The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully conducted a five-day Professional Development Programme (PDP) from 9th to 13th March in association with MSME Technology Centre, Bengaluru. The programme aimed to enhance the technical knowledge and managerial skills of faculty members and research scholars.

Day one featured a session on Electric Vehicle Management by Dr Deepa Kaliaperumal, who shared her extensive academic and research expertise. The session covered battery life cycle management, opportunities in the EV sector, sustainability practices, and fleet management strategies. Participants gained valuable insights into emerging business prospects and efficient EV operations.

Day two focused on IoT and Blockchain Management, delivered by Dr Annapurna from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. The session highlighted IoT applications in railway systems, fundamentals of cryptocurrency, and the role of hashing algorithms in blockchain security. These discussions provided a strong understanding of emerging digital technologies and their real-world relevance.

On day three, Dr Sreejith S from New Horizon College of Engineering addressed Cyber Security and Management. He discussed various cyber threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering attacks. The session emphasised safe online practices and the importance of protecting digital assets in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Day four featured an engaging session on Total Quality Management by Squadron Leader G Srikala (Retd). She explained the core principles of TQM through case studies and interactive stress-buster activities, highlighting the importance of continuous improvement and maintaining workplace balance.

The final day focused on Personality Development, again led by Squadron Leader G Srikala (Retd). The session enhanced soft skills such as communication, leadership, confidence, and time management through interactive exercises. Mr Praveen Kumar M P from MSME Technology Centre addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of such PDPs for faculty development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, followed by the National Anthem, marking a successful and enriching professional learning experience.
